Nkangala TVET College was founded in 2003 through the consolidation of the Witbank, Middelburg, Mpondozankomo, and CN Mahlangu campuses (previously Technical Colleges) within the Nkangala region. In 2011, the Waterval Boven Campus was integrated from Ehlanzen FET College. This establishment came about following the enactment of the FET Act by Parliament in 1996.
Being the largest educational establishment in Mpumalanga Province, the college serves the Nkangala community. CN Mahlangu and Waterval Boven primarily encompass rural areas. The majority of students originate from the urban zones of Witbank and Middelburg, which are the most densely inhabited areas in the region. The remaining students hail from the former Kwa-Ndebele and Waterval Boven rural localities. In the year 2007, there were 719 students enrolled in NC(V) programs and 11,917 students pursuing Nated 191 courses. A significant majority, exceeding 95%, of our student body represents backgrounds that were previously underserved.
