For the 2024-2025 academic year, students who wish to apply to the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) can access the online application form directly on the university’s website. The application form can be completed and submitted through the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s online platform. To successfully apply to UKZN, please follow these steps:

  1. An email address is mandatory to complete the application process.
  2. South African applicants are required to provide identification, while foreign applicants must provide a passport number.
  3. Once you receive your enrollment number from UKZN, the application fee must be paid.
  4. Ensure that all documents are scanned according to the provided instructions.
  5. Prior to submitting your application, make sure to gather and submit the following documents:
  • Certified copy of your ID card/passport
  • Copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate, O/A Level, or other relevant high school diploma/certificate
  • International applicants must provide evidence of eligibility to study at a South African institution through HESA/SAQA. For more information, refer to the bachelor’s degree prospectus.
  • If you have previously attended another university, please submit certified copies of your diplomas, certificates, and good conduct certificates.
  • International applicants who do not speak English must provide evidence of English proficiency. Previous certificates from foreign universities will be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) if obtained outside of South Africa.
  • If you are applying for a master’s or doctoral degree, you will need to submit a research plan and a dissertation or a recommended title for your dissertation.
  • International students planning to study in South Africa must hold a valid study visa.

Before submitting your application online, please carefully review the provided notes. Ensure that you have all the required HESA/SAQA documents in hand. When making the application fee payment, please use the reference APPN (followed by the admission number). Kindly allow 24-48 hours for the system to process your payment.

Note: For undergraduate programs in South Africa, applicants must apply for the first time through the Central Applications Office (CAO). Visit www.cao.ac.za for further information.
