- If you have attended another higher education institution, a copy of your academic transcript is required.

Online applications are accepted for the University of the Witwatersrand unless you have already graduated. To submit an online application, visit wits.ac.za/applications.
You can apply for up to three degrees simultaneously, regardless of the chosen programs.
When applying to programs within the same faculty (such as humanities, commerce, or science), it is advisable to submit separate applications to each faculty to have more options.
For engineering or health sciences programs, it is recommended to keep your options open.
Foreign applicants are required to pay an R700 application fee, while South African citizens also need to pay an R700 application fee.
Additional Forms:
- Some degree programs may have additional admission requirements, such as performances, National Benchmark Testing, and portfolio and essay submissions. Please review the Additional Forms section to determine if any of these requirements apply to you.
Admission Point Score (APS):
If you have completed the NSC matriculation or are currently enrolled in it, please review the information provided regarding the admission requirements.
It’s important to note that meeting the requirements does not guarantee a spot, as availability of space, academic standing, and any additional entry requirements may influence the final decision.
When calculating the admission point score (APS), Wits considers the following:
- English must be studied, either as a first or second language.
- Numerate programs in Science, Engineering and the Built Environment, Business, Law and Management, and Math have prerequisites.
- Math education is recognized for certain degrees (see Admission Requirements (NSC)).
- The APS calculation does not differentiate between designated and undesignated subjects. The top seven subjects, including Life Orientation, are used to calculate the APS.
