To register for the 2024 academic year, follow the steps outlined below.
Accept Your Offer
Shortly after the announcement of results, you will receive an SMS in January 2024 confirming your firm offer if you have obtained the National Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification this year. To confirm your acceptance, visit the self-service portal. The offer must be accepted within the specified timeframe through SMS or the self-service portal. Declining the offer will result in the spot being given to another student. Acceptances will not be accepted via email or phone. Only one offer can be accepted at a time. You may receive information that your application is on hold or that your name has been placed on a waiting list. We will monitor the situation daily and notify you via SMS or self-service if necessary.
Set Up Your First Tuition Payment/Confirm Your Bursary or Scholarship
Initial Payment:
Self-funded students must make their first tuition payment before registering. The fixed fee of R9340 must be paid by all students prior to registration. EFT payments must be sent and cleared four days before registration. If you are unable to make this payment by the time of enrollment, you can complete a deferment on the student self-service portal and proceed with online registration. A deferment will allow you to pay the full year’s fees by the end of May. You can only request a deferment after accepting an offer of enrollment in a program. The initial fee payment is not required if:
- You have been awarded a full Wits University Scholarship, meet the eligibility criteria, and have received a provisional NSFAS offer for 2024. Your family’s annual income must be less than R350,000. If this applies to you, use the self-service portal to request a deferment for the initial fee payment.
During registration, all new students are required to declare their residence and source of income.
Students Applying for NSFAS or Bursaries
- All supporting documentation must be uploaded by February 2024. For information on fees, financing options, scholarships, and bursaries, visit the Student Fees and Financial Aid and Scholarships Administration (FASO) websites. From January onwards, you can direct your inquiries to the Fees Office, Financial Aid Office, or Scholarships Office. Contact details can be found on the respective websites.
International Students
- International students must pay 75% of the annual tuition fee, as well as other related costs such as on-campus living expenses, before registering. Approval from the International Students Office is required prior to registration. Visit the provided link for clearance information. For further assistance, contact the International Students Office using the provided contact details.
Register Before the Deadline
- Most students are advised to register online using the Self-Service Portal from home. If you need assistance or are unable to complete your registration online, Assisted Registration is available on campus. Curriculum counseling may also be provided during this assistance. Online and assisted registration have specific dates and deadlines set by the faculty. Failure to complete registration by these deadlines will result in the withdrawal of your offer. Late registration does not guarantee a spot at the institution. Check your registration dates on the provided link.
Registration Assistance
- If you require special assistance or are unable to register online, Assisted Registration is available on campus on the dates set by your faculty. At Assisted Registration, you can obtain your student card, parking permit, and goody bag. The Fees, Financial Aid & Scholarship Office, International Students Office, Faculty Office, and Student Enrollment Center can also be found at the Assisted Registration venue. Refer to the provided link to view your enrollment dates. Upon registration, you will have access to additional features on your student portal, including your timetable and enrollment confirmation.
