How to register Wits Online 2024-2025

Applicants are advised to take note of the following important deadlines:

The deadline for WITS Admission Registration for the 2024-2025 academic year is set for September 2024. For undergraduate applicants, applications for Health Sciences programs, including Architecture, Audiology, Film and Television, and Speech-Language Pathology, must be submitted by June 2024. The Wits University application portal will close on the same day.

Online Registration for the University of the Witwatersrand

STEP 1 – Complete the online application

To submit an online application, visit www.wits.ac.za/applications/. You can apply for up to three degrees, regardless of the order in which you choose them. If you intend to apply for two programs within the same department, it is advisable to apply to one program in a faculty with fewer restrictions, such as Humanities, Commerce, or Science. Keep your options open, especially if you are applying to programs in engineering or health sciences faculties. International candidates are required to pay an application fee of R700, while South African citizens are required to pay R600. Additional Forms Are there additional requirements for your degree program? Some degrees may require a portfolio, an essay, an audition, or the National Benchmark Test. Please refer to the Additional Forms section below if this applies to you.

STEP 2 – Registration Confirmation

You will receive an email confirming the receipt of your application. The email acknowledging receipt will provide you with a personal number, which will serve as your student number. All university correspondence will be available on the student self-service website at https://self-service.wits.ac.za. Frequently check the student self-service website to monitor the progress of your application and to see any further steps that need to be taken.

Wits Plus Online Registration

If you are interested in Wits Plus, please register according to your student category—new first-year student, returning undergraduate student, or postgraduate student. Please refer to your faculty for the specific online enrollment dates.

Registration Assistance / On-Campus

Wits Plus students will attend campus orientation in February 2025. Additional information about the orientation will be provided after registration.

Orientation

Students who are unable to register online or have specific curriculum requirements can receive registration assistance at Sturrock Park (Wits Sports Admin), Braamfontein West Campus, starting in February 2025. Please be aware that failing to register by these dates may result in the withdrawal of your offer. These deadlines apply to both online and assisted registration.
