The Academic Registrar at the University of the Witwatersrand invites qualified applicants, both foreign and South African, to submit their applications for programs in the upcoming academic year. It is important to note that admissions for undergraduate programs are only open on specific dates in the year prior to the year of study. To ensure that your application is considered on time, please review the following list of application deadlines.

Opening and Closing Dates for Wits Admissions

• Applications for admissions will open in May 2024 and close in August 2024.

Payment of the Application Fee

• South African citizens are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of R100. Foreign citizens must pay an application fee of R700, which is also non-refundable. Please ensure that you meet the specified deadlines for making the payment. When making the payment, use your Individual Number or T Number as a reference.

Please include any necessary supporting documentation along with your application.

• If you did not upload supporting documents during the initial application, you can now do so through the student self-service portal at https://self-service.wits.ac.za. To log in, use your personal number (not your T number) and the first six digits of your ID. Current students are requested to submit their final grades for 11th grade electronically—no hard copy is required. If you have already logged in, upload certified copies of all your graduation and exit certificates. Other Educational Institutions: For all tertiary registrations, please upload certified copies of your official academic records and a statement or certificate attesting to your good character. This statement should be signed by the registrar of your institution. Please note that only the initial assessment will consider interim, self-service-generated results for GEMP applicants.
