The University of the Witwatersrand, also known as Wits, is now accepting online registrations for returning undergraduate and graduate students. The important dates for pre-registration, registration, and submission of documents for the 2024 academic year are provided below.

Application Deadlines for the University of Witwatersrand

Applicants must take note of the following deadlines:

The deadline for WITS Admission Registration for the 2024 and 2025 academic years is set for September 2024. For undergraduate applicants, all Health Sciences programs, including Architecture, Audiology, Film and Television, and Speech-Language Pathology, require applications to be submitted by June 2025. The Wits University application portal is expected to close on the same day.

How to Apply Online at the University of the Witwatersrand

STEP 1 – Complete the online application

To submit an online application, please visit www.wits.ac.za/applications/. You have the option to apply for up to three degrees, regardless of the order in which you choose them. If you wish to apply for two programs within the same department, it is advisable to apply to one program in a faculty with fewer restrictions, such as the Humanities, Commerce, or Science. Keep your options open, particularly if you are applying to programs in engineering or health sciences faculties. International applicants are required to pay R700, while South African citizens are required to pay R300.

Certain degrees may have additional selection criteria, such as performances, portfolio and essay submissions, and national benchmark testing. Please refer to the Additional Forms section below to determine if this applies to your degree program.

All university correspondence will be accessible on the student self-service website, which can be found at https://self-service.wits.ac.za. Upon receipt of your application, you will receive an email confirming its receipt, along with a personal number that will serve as your student number. Please regularly check the student self-service website for updates on the progress of your application and any further requirements.
