WC Fees and Financial Aid

• Acknowledging its responsibility to enhance accessibility to higher education, the University of the Western Cape (UWC) offers opportunities for academically prepared yet financially disadvantaged students. These individuals often come from underprivileged schools, facing various challenges while striving for success. The central office, which houses our department, oversees all study funding programs at the university. Working closely with faculty and academic departments, the central office provides support to financially disadvantaged students. The Student Finance Department is responsible for administering NSFAS funds, scholarships, and grants. As a result, we can provide students with information about NSFAS funding, scholarship providers, and available scholarship opportunities. The Financial Aid Office, located behind the administration building (prefab houses) on UWC’s main campus, is where student advisors assist students. Students in need of financial assistance should reach out to a Student Financial Advisor who will gladly provide the necessary information. Furthermore, student finances serve as a link between donors and students requiring financial support. A Financial Assistance Advisor serves as the primary contact for each donor, working closely with them. Additionally, the office collaborates with governments, businesses, and the non-profit sector to welcome and engage new sponsors who are willing to support UWC students. Their support is greatly appreciated and crucial to the students of the University of the Western Cape.

The Financial Aid Office is committed to fostering a culture of responsiveness to student needs while maintaining accountability for the utilization of all financial aid resources. Our aim is to differentiate ourselves as the leading provider of financial aid services among peer institutions by utilizing technology to streamline the financial aid process. We are also preparing for potential changes in federal, state, institutional, and private funding regulations. Throughout the school community, we strive to exemplify effective communication and teamwork, while respecting the needs, values, and diversity of students, parents, and staff.
