QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSION TO LIMPOPO UNIVERSITY
The UL admission prospectus for 2024-2025, provided below, contains a list of admission requirements for the College of Limpopo (UL). Ensure that you meet or exceed the requirements listed in the prospectus. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree to submit an application. National Senior Certificate exemption for bachelor’s degree (NSC)
Prospective NSC students must fulfill the following requirements to be accepted into any bachelor’s degree offered by the College of Limpopo:
- A Life Orientation achievement of at least level three (3).
- An English achievement level of at least three (3) as per the university’s language policy.
- The minimum requirements for achievement in various subjects, as stated in each Faculty’s curriculum:
- Four 20-credit subjects must be completed in degree programs with a minimum NSC achievement level of four.
- Four 20-credit subjects must be completed in diploma programs with a minimum NSC achievement level of three (3).
- The Admission Point Score (APS) is determined individually as specified in the curriculum.
Please note that meeting the APS requirements for a specific program does not guarantee admission.
High School Diploma (prior to 2008)
Students who successfully completed Grade 12 before 2008 are eligible to apply for admission to the university with the traditional Grade 12 Senior Certificate and full university exemption by converting their grade symbols to an APS.
National Diploma (Vocational)
In addition to passing placement tests and faculty admission requirements, students who have obtained a National Certificate Vocational (NC[V]) Level 4 qualification must also achieve the following requirements:
- Life Orientation is one of the three required subjects for the NC(V) Level 4 certificate with a 60% grade, while the other four relevant vocational subjects are at 70% for degree programs.
- Three fundamental subjects, including Life Orientation, account for 50% of the NC(V) Level 4 certificate, while three compulsory vocational subjects account for 60% of the certificate for diploma programs.
APS
Using a straightforward formula based on their NSC or Grade 12 university exemption results, prospective students can quickly and easily determine if they meet the minimum admission requirements.
The College of Limpopo offers a unique program provided by a Faculty. However, having the required APS does not guarantee admission to a specific program. According to the Faculty’s guidelines, the calculation is done by adding the achievement levels from six (6) approved 20-credit subjects. The levels of achievement are as follows (please note that the APS does not include Life Orientation).
