  • Important Browser Requirements: This website requires Internet Explorer versions 7 and 8 or newer. Entering Information into the Database: When accessing the online application, you will be prompted to provide an email address for communication purposes from the University of Pretoria. Please ensure that you enter your email address accurately, without any spelling errors.
  • If you need a new email address, you can create one using Gmail. During the application process, South African applicants should provide their South African National ID number, while international applicants should provide their passport number. Use CutePDF or Acrobat, not Acrobat Reader, for saving the files. Each document should be converted to PDF format and include your identification before uploading them with your application. To submit the required files during the application process, have these PDF files accessible on electronic media such as a data disk, memory stick, or desktop.
  • Please note that the University of Pretoria reserves the right to reject or withdraw your admission if you submit incorrect, incomplete, unreadable, or fraudulent documentation.

What Happens After Submitting Your Application?

  • Once your application has been processed, you will receive a message from the University of Pretoria with instructions on how to access your Student Centre through the UP Student Portal. Through this portal, you can track your progress, view your status, and receive any relevant messages or pending tasks.

Allocation of Your Student Number:

  • If you applied online, you can expect to receive your student number in your email inbox within 15 working days. Your application number does not grant access to the student portal. Once you have your student number, you can create a profile and register as a new user on the portal.
